Nothing says brunch quite like French toast and nothing beats the French toast at iconic NY establishment Sadelle’s. It was only a matter of time until I decided to take on the challenge of recreating this extremely decadent dish at home. I think the secret here is the overnight soak and oven bake, but you tell me!

Ingredients:
Here’s What You’ll Need for 2-3 Servings:
Half loaf of challah bread -cut into 4-6 slices
3 eggs
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup half and half
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Butter
Maple syrup to serve

1. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, half and half, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sugar and a pinch of salt.
2. Once combined, soak each slice of challah bread and place into a baking sheet. Pour remaining batter, cover with saran and refrigerate overnight.
3. The next day, in a heated saucepan with butter, fry each piece on medium low until golden brown.
4. Then, preheat oven to 450 and bake for 5-7 minutes on each side.
5. Top with maple syrup and enjoy!
