In a city that’s full of burgers, pizza and more burgers, keeping up to date with the latest and greatest can be quite a challenge. If you’re burger aficionados like us, you understand the importance of getting a taste of all of the city’s best burgers. From the French Onion burger at Manhatta to Bernie’s classic double cheeseburger, here are five great new burgers to get on your radar and in your mouth!
The Usual
Chef Alvin Cailan of LA based favorite, Eggslut, makes his NYC debut with The Usual. As the name implies, his goal is to offer comfort food like fried chicken and burgers but with an elevated spin, bringing in some Latino and Filipino influence. The Usual Burger comes with two patties, american cheese, red onions, grated tomatoes and a roasted garlic aioli and it is perfect.
Manhatta
PC: @gothamburgersocialclubDanny Meyer’s new restaurant just opened in Fidi on the 60th floor with a spectacular view of the NYC skyline. At Manhatta, Chef Jason Pfeifer serves up seasonal cuisine with a French flare, like the French Onion burger served at the bar. This baby is complete with gruyere cheese and caramelized onion “juse” and definitely requires a fork and knife for consumption.
Nightingale
From the team behind Black Seed Bagels comes Nightingale, a new American restaurant located in the heart of Greenwich Village. The 6oz burger here is stuffed with Foie Gras and finished with violet mustard, arugula, red cabbage relish, windham cheddar, heirloom tomato and fresh horseradish; a uniquely refreshing combo we can’t get enough of.
Bistrot Leo
Former chef at Acme, Bar Boulud and db Bistro Moderne, Brian Loiacono, makes a mean burger at Bistrot Leo in the Sixty Soho Hotel. “Le Hamburger” comes with tomato, pickle, caramelized onion, market lettuce and of course fries, all served on a brioche bun – it’s the perfect balance of classic French bistro meets classic American burger.
Bernie’s
PC: @berniesnycBernie’s just opened in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in the old Park Luncheonette space. Owners Zach Frankel, Taylor McEwan and chef Ashley Berman of Frankel’s named their newest venture after their grandfathers. Bernie’s Cheeseburger Deluxe comes as a double patty with american cheese and the works.
