Bar Sardine was an iconic West Village establishment that recently closed their doors as a result of the pandemic. This Recipe Remake is in memory of one of NYC’s best burgers and one that I hope you can continue to enjoy for years to come. With the right ingredients, patience and love, I’m pretty sure this burger comes pretty close to the original. Just close your eyes and imagine you’re at Bar Sardine while eating it!
Ingredients:
Here’s What You’ll Need
6 oz ground beef seasoned with salt and pepper
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons BBQ sauce
Thinly sliced sour pickle
Thinly sliced red onion
1/2 potato thinly sliced for shoestring fries. Add salt for taste.
1 slice smoked cheddar cheese
1 martin’s potato bun
What to Do:
Directions:
1. In a heated sauce pan, add oil and once sizzling, add in your potatoes and let cook until golden brown.
2. Once done, place shoe string fries on a paper towel and allow to cool.
3. Separately, add burger patty to heated sauce pan and allow to cook about 4 minutes on each side.
4. Add smoked cheddar to burger, cover and allow to melt.
5. Combine mayonnaise and BBQ sauce for BBQ aioli.
6. Toast your bun and build your burger – slather top bun with BBQ aioli and top your burger with pickle, onion and shoestring fries. Smash together and enjoy!
