Pisellino
PC: GrubstreetRita Sodi and Jody Williams have blessed the NYC food scene with Buvette, I Sodi and Via Carota. This October, the couple will open an all day cafe in the West Village, across the street from Via Carota. Expect pastries and coffee for breakfast, paninis and snacks for lunch, and cocktails and small bites for dinner.
Joya Loves Louie
PC: EV GrieveThe former Cafe Orlin space in Astor Place will soon be replaced by Joya Loves Louie, a vegetarian concept by chef Joya Carlton of Orchard Grocer. The menu here will include dishes like falafel waffles with whipped maple and fruit and jackfruit osso buco with polenta and coconut gremolata.
Golden Diner
PC: GrubstreetChef Sam Yoo, a Momofuku Ko and Torrisi vet, is bringing a new diner concept to the border of Chinatown this Fall. Inspired by his father’s restaurants in Flushing and Koreatown, Yoo will be putting his own spin on a classic diner here and we’re very excited about what he has in store: the menu will include everything from classic salads and grilled cheese to smoked kimchee chicken tamales lamb and pork serve in a Xian-style gyro.
Devon
PC: NY TimesThe son of the beloved Eli Zabar, Oliver Zabar, will be opening Devon, named after his mother, on LES this November. Devon will showcase Zabar’s take on elevated bar food with French influence to his new restaurant and cocktail bar. Most recently, he has been managing Eli’s Night Shift an all day cafe and bar on the Upper East Side.
Benno
PC: Eater NYInside The Evelyn Hotel in NoMad, Benno is set to open this November. Chef Jonathan Benno of Lincoln and Per Se will be departing from his usual style here as he plans to create a Mediterranean menu at his newest venture. You may have already heard about his hit pastries at the recently opened Leonelli Taberna, so we have high expectations for this upcoming opening.
Gertie
PC: Eater NYThis November, restaurateur Nate Adler of Huerta’s will open Gertie, a rotisserie focused eatery in Williamsburg. Will Edwards and manager Flip Biddelman just opened a pop-up of the concept at Crown Heights beer hall Berg’n and word on the street is it’s pretty good!
Saint Julivert Fisherie
PC: Eater NYOpening in Cobble Hill this fall is Saint Julivert Fisherie, a new seafood concept by Chef duo Alex Raij of La Vara and Eder Montero. The menu will draw from several cultures and cuisines with dishes like a Tuna casserole made with curry leaf and turmeric, a jerk chicken dish and a prego sandwich.
Zauo
PC: Eater NYDiners will be fishing for their own dinner at Chef Noriki Takahashi’s new restaurant, Zauo, an exciting concept set to open in Chelsea this month. Once a guest has caught a fish of their liking, a staff member will prepare the fish – as sushi, tempura fried, or grilled. With thirteen existing locations in Japan, this will be the first rendition of the concept in The US.
