Here at EatingNYC, we know a thing or two about avocado toast. We’ve tried nearly every rendition this city has to offer and we happy to say, we still can’t get enough of this beloved treat! Keep reading for our favorite versions of avocado toast in New York City.
Atla
PC: @nycdiningAtla is an all day café by Enrique Olvera serving up contemporary Mexican food with fresh, local ingredients. Our favorite dish here is the guacamole goat cheese toast dressed with tomatoes and onions.
Little Collins
PC: @sofiaeatsnycThis Australian inspired café not only has amazing coffee, but also serves one of our favorite renditions of the avocado toast, “The Smash.” Avocado and feta mash is piled high on toast and sprinkled with chili flakes and pepitas for a nice kick. If you’re going all out, add an egg on top!
The Commons Chelsea
The Avocado Toast at The Commons Chelsea should be a high priority on your “to-eat” list if you haven’t tried it already. Served on a perfectly toasted baguette, this Avocado Toast is topped with cumin, olive oil, lemon juice and chili flakes. Pro-tip: add smoked salmon on top for the full experience.
Café Gitane
PC: @hungrygrlsCafé Gitane is arguably the spot that made avocado toast a thing in this city, and we’re very thankful that they did! This classic version is topped with lemon juice, olive oil and chili flakes all piled high on 7-grain bread.
Joseph Leonard
Joseph Leonard is a modern American eatery serving up breakfast at all hours of the day – avocado toast included! We love their version of Avocado Toast prepared with two eggs any style over country bread and finished with baby lettuce.
Avocaderia
If you haven’t yet been to Avocaderia, you’re doing it all wrong. Located inside Industry City Food Hall in Brooklyn, Avocaderia is America’s first avocado-centric restaurant. Our favorites here include the Chill Out made with avo mash, chili flakes, shichimi and lime citronette and the Avo Brunch Toast with avo mash, avocado rose, poached egg, shichimi, chili flakes and lime citronette.
The East Pole
PC: @forkfeedThe East Pole is a British style tavern on the Upper East Side with a rustic décor and simple, satisfying dishes to match. Their unique take on Avocado Toast comes served with thin slices of bread covered with avocado, soft-boiled eggs, hot sauce and cilantro to finish.
