EatingNYC is a food and lifestyle blog covering New York City, written and published by Alexa Matthews. Questions about anything on this page can go to alexa@eating.nyc.

Your email address. If you sign up for the newsletter — through the form in the footer, the pop-up, or the links page — I store the email address you enter, the date you signed up, and which form you used. That address is stored in this site's database and synced to MailChimp, which sends the newsletter. I don't ask for your name, address or payment information anywhere on this site.

Standard analytics and server logs. Like nearly every website, visits are logged with technical details: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, the pages you viewed and when. This is used in aggregate to understand which guides people read, not to identify you personally.

Cookies set by advertising and affiliate partners. The ad network and affiliate platforms described below set their own cookies and similar identifiers in your browser when you view a page or click an affiliate link. Those cookies belong to those companies, not to me, and are governed by their own privacy policies.

I do not sell your email address, and I don't share it with brands, restaurants or sponsors.

• MailChimp (Intuit) — stores newsletter subscriber emails and delivers the newsletter. Your email is transferred to MailChimp when you subscribe.
• She Media — the advertising network that serves display ads on this site. She Media and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technology to measure ad performance and to personalize the ads you see.
• LTK (shop.ltk) and ShopMy — the affiliate platforms behind product links here. When you click one, they set tracking cookies so any purchase can be attributed to this site.
• ShopMy embeds — the Shop page displays product collections embedded directly from ShopMy. These load inside a frame served by ShopMy, which sets its own cookies and may collect browsing and click data under ShopMy's own privacy policy.
• Supabase — the hosting and database provider that runs this site and stores its content, including the newsletter subscriber list.

The Shop page. The products listed on /shop, and the “shop my favorites” block on /links, are affiliate placements. Every product card links out to LTK, ShopMy, Amazon or the brand directly, and a purchase made through one of those links may earn a commission. Nothing is listed in exchange for payment for the listing itself, and the product selection is Alexa's own.

Some links on EatingNYC are affiliate links, primarily through LTK and ShopMy. If you click one and buy something, I may earn a small commission — at no additional cost to you. It never changes the price you pay, and it never buys a recommendation: I only link to things I'd actually send to a friend.

Display ads on this site are sold and served by She Media, a third-party advertising network. Those ads may be personalized based on cookies and other identifiers collected across sites. You can limit interest-based advertising through your browser's cookie settings, your device's ad-tracking controls, or the industry opt-out tools at optout.aboutads.info and youradchoices.com.

Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom — one click and you're off the list immediately. You can also email alexa@eating.nyc and I'll remove you by hand, including from the site's own subscriber table.

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and who it's shared with, to request a copy of it, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You won't be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.

I don't sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies set by She Media may count as "sharing" for targeted advertising under California law — you can opt out via the ad-industry controls linked above and through the opt-out signals your browser sends (Global Privacy Control is honored where supported). For access, correction or deletion requests, email alexa@eating.nyc from the address you subscribed with and I'll respond within 45 days.

The lawful bases for processing here are your consent (newsletter signup, advertising cookies) and legitimate interest (basic security and analytics logs needed to run the site). You have the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent at any time — for the newsletter, that's the unsubscribe link.

Data may be processed in the United States by the providers named above. To exercise any right, email alexa@eating.nyc; requests are answered within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe or ask to be removed. Server and analytics logs are retained on a short rolling basis. Cookies set by third parties expire on their own schedules.

EatingNYC is not directed at children under 13 and I don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has subscribed to the newsletter, email alexa@eating.nyc and the record will be deleted.

As the site adds features or partners, this policy may be updated. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision, and material changes will be noted there.
