Brunch is a lifestyle in NYC and something we look forward to every weekend. If you’re like us and use special occasions as an excuse to go all out for an epic meal, then this post is for you. Some of our favorites include California-inspired restaurant Upland and contemporary all day restaurant and cafe La Mercerie. Keep reading for more!
Fausto
PC: @fastuobrooklynFausto is a recent addition to the Park Slope area that occupies the former Franny’s pizza spot. As soon as we learned that Chef Erin Shambura and Joe Campanale of Dell’anima and L’artusi were behind this restaurant, we knew it was going to be great. Whatever you go with, make sure to have an order of the french toast with apple and mascarpone on your table.
Loring Place
PC: @loringplacenycLoring Place is one of our favorite spots for a market-driven American dining experience, perfect for any kind of eater. Chef Dan Kluger, former chef at ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina, offers creative dishes with fresh veggies seasoned to perfection at this Greenwich Village spot. For something a little more hearty, go for the cheddar waffles with eggs, smoked ham and their incredible cherry pepper hollandaise.
Santina
PC: @majorfoodgroupLocated under the High Line in the heart of Meatpacking, Santina is perfect for a celebration with your girlfriends. Start your meal here with the truffle egg salad Cecina (aka italian chickpea pancakes) and get a few pastas for the table to share – our recent favorite is the lobster fettuccine tossed in a spicy calabrian chili tomato sauce.
Upland
PC: @vickimortonChef Justin Smillie and restaurateur Stephen Starr bring us Upland, a California-inspired restaurant in Gramercy. Some brunch favorites here include the California BEC consisting of egg souffle, bacon, american cheese, and a caramelized onion bun and the sausage and kale pizza made with young pecorino, stracciatella and parmigiano.
La Mercerie
A tasteful French cafe built inside the Roman & Williams Guild in Soho, La Mercerie is the perfect spot for a special occasion brunch, especially if you’re looking to impress! Chef Marie-Aude Rose prepares some of the best french fare in Manhattan here with dishes like homemade smoked salmon complete with creme fraiche and blinis and the crepe complete with a sunny side up egg, ham and cheese.
ABCV
PC: @abcvnycABCV is Jean Georges’ newish vegetarian restaurant that’s as beautiful as it is delicious. Try one of their brunch bowls like the wild blueberry bowl with jungle peanut butter and fresh and dried fruits. If you’re looking for something a little more out there, go for the kimchi fried rice with black trumpet, shiitake, nori and sesame.
Olmsted
PC: @noahfeckisawesomeThis Prospect Heights restaurant by Greg Baxtrom sources many of their ingredients from their stunning backyard garden. It’s hard to pick favorites here, but some of our must order brunch items include the egg rolls filled with smoky bacon, farm eggs and vermont cheddar, the grilled breakfast burger and the apple strudel sticky rolls. Needless to say, come prepared for an indulgent meal!
