Lamalo
PC: EatingNYCThis Middle Eastern gem located right in NoMad is the newest concept for owner Gadi Peleg, who is also behind Bread’s Bakery and beloved Israeli hotspot, Nur. The Daily Spread, which includes a selection of Middle Eastern inspired dips, salads and spreads served with a baked-to-order Jerusalem Laffa has quickly become a huge hit.
Golden Diner
PC: lanawalkerrFormer Momofuku chef Samuel Woo recently opened Golden Diner, his take on a classic NYC diner. His idea for the restaurant was to keep the old school diner culture, but put a fresher, hipper spin on it. On the menu you’ll find beloved dishes like Matzo Ball soup along with Woo’s take on classic favorites like Kafir Avocado Toast with lemongrass and galangal and a Katsu Club Sandwich.
Maison Yaki
PC: noahfecksisawesomeThe team behind Olmsted recently opened their latest debut, Maison Yaki, which offers an innovative take on Yaki-French fusion. Everything on the menu is under $10 and primarily focuses on Yakitori and small plates. While traditional Yakitori is made with just chicken, Baxtrom has included not so traditional Lobster & Sauce Américaine and Ribeye & Bordelaise skewers on the menu here – both of which are must orders.
Shoo Shoo
PC: lizaherlands_This Middle Eastern spot is the newest concept for Shimon Maman, former co owner of 12 Chairs. Shoo Shoo takes traditional Middle Eastern cuisine and puts a New York spin on it, serving up dishes like Cauliflower Caesar and a very classic Schnitzel. Shimon looks to create a very familial environment at Shoo Shoo, bringing people together through his food and he does just that.
Wayla
PC: WaylaNewly opened Thai restaurant, Wayla, has something that most NYC restaurants do not, an absolutely stunning and secluded outdoors seating area. Here, Chef Tom Naumsuwan is serving some of his favorite dishes from his childhood growing up in Bangkok, offering a great combination of traditional country style cooking and street food dishes. Must orders here included the Nam Prik Platter, the Daily Curry and Lobster Pad Thai.
Bar Pisellino
PC: Bar PisellinoDuo Rita Sodi and Jodi Williams of Via Carota and I Sodi are back again with their newest hit restaurant located in the West Village. Bar Pisellino is the spot to go to when you’re in need of some home-cooked Italian comfort food. This all-day restaurant and bar will totally transport you to Italy; start your day here with olive oil cake and snack on cacio e pepe potato chips while sipping a refreshing Aperol Spritz after a long day.
The Fulton
PC: MelissamaleJean-Georges just opened his first seafood-forward restaurant and it is phenomenal! Located at Pier 19, The Fulton is the perfect place to enjoy deliciously prepared, fresh seafood with stunning views of the Hudson River and the Brooklyn Bridge. While the menu is predominantly seafood, there are a few options non- fish lovers can enjoy, such as Wagyu Beef Tenderloin.
Niche
PC: eaterAt Niche, a newly opened Ramen spot in the Lower East Side, Chef Shigetoshi Nakamura has taken a different approach on how he is serving up delicious bowls of the popular dish. Nakamura serves five varieties of Mazemen with a modern twist with favorites including the Russ & Roe and the Carbonara Mazemen.
