If you’ve ever wondered where to find New York’s best dim sum, a Flushing food tour is in your future! After a few journeys to Flushing’s most authentic eateries, we’ve rounded up our favorite spots and dishes from steamy pork buns to chocolate soup dumplings. Come hungry!
Kung Fu Xiao Long Bao
Though Kung Fu Xiao Long Bao is not on Flushing’s Main Street, we promise it’s worth the trek. Come here to sink your teeth into the best soup dumplings we’ve ever had. These thin yet sturdy dumplings are deliciously filled with savory pork, crab or both! Also, the nutella and banana soup dumplings are truly out of this world.
Joe’s Steam Rice Roll
PC: @esze.eRice Rolls are our favorite type of dim sum, so naturally we are obsessed with Joe’s Steamed Rice Roll, a fast-casual Hong Kong Style eatery. Our go-to order? A Shrimp Rice Roll made with corn, egg, lettuce and scallion.
Golden Mall
PC: @cy_eatsWalk down the stairs of an unassuming entry way to find food stalls that make up the Golden Shopping Mall, which features some of the most authentic eats in Flushing. Here you’ll find the original Xi’an Famous Foods, Lanzhou Handmade Noodles and some of our favorite dumplings of all time – the shrimp dumplings at Tianjin Homemade Dumplings. Make sure you experiment with all the sauces for the full experience.
White Bear
Your order at White Bear is the #6: Wontons drizzled in spicy oil and served with green scallions. It’s so good that our mouths water just thinking about them! Pro-tip: Do not stand on chairs to take a photo, we had to learn that the hard way.
Fu Run
PC: @chadlaviAfter indulging in spicy dumplings at White Bear, head next door for a visit to the Northeast region of China and try this traditional eatery with a Muslim flare. The Muslim Lamb is what they are known for; crispy and tender meat covered in a spicy cumin sauce – plastic gloves included . If you’re feeling adventurous, go for the Sour Cabbage Soup or the Jellyfish.
Corner 28
Make Corner 28 the last stop on your Flushing journey to stock up on all your favorite dim sum to go. We love the Pork Buns and the Peking Duck Buns here and also recommend their egg custard and rice cakes for a sweet finish to your day.
